English Irish

Description

English, or classic Irish, is a fully colored rat with a white triangle located on the chest. The front feet should be white, but the white should not extend up the legs to the white marking. Ideally, the chest marking will be an equilateral triangle with a downward point, like a Kodiak bear, and will not extend down to the belly. Half of the back feet and a quarter length of the tail are also allowed to be white.

Genetics

H/h

A single recessive on the Hooded (H) locus, this is the same genetic description as Berkshire, but with extra modifiers to decrease the amount of white, which have not been genetically described.

Standards

AFRMA

The triangle on chest to be of good size, clear and devoid of brindling, not to extend in a streak down the belly but occupying all the space between the front legs. The body color shall conform to a recognized color."

RSA
