Platinum Agouti

Description

A very attractive and seldom-seen color, this rat appears to be a very pale grey Agouti with an icy tone to the color. The undercoat should be a creamy ivory, and as with all Agouti rats, the belly is a lighter, silverier tone. The eyes should be a light red. The tone of the color may vary depending on if the Platinum is Mink or Beige based.

Genetics

Mink Based: A/- g/g m/m

Beige Based: A/- g/g r/r

A Platinum Agouti is an Agouti rat with a double recessive of American Blue, and additionally a double recessive of either Mink or Beige. It is the Agouti version of Platinum and as such, is sensitive in tone and shade to other carried recessives.
